Marine Protected Areas (MPAs) for seabirds in Portugal have already been approved within the Natura 2000 Network. However, MPAs for cetaceans (proposed under the LIFE+ MarPro framework) are still under consideration. If the proposed areas are approved by the government, joining efforts with the fishing sector and other blue economy activities will be fundamental to both management and long-term conservation of cetaceans and seabirds in Continental Portugal. At the 3rd International LIFE+ MarPro Workshop, experiences from other areas concerning design and application of MPA management plans will be discussed, thus contributing to the future implementation of management plans in marine areas in Portugal. We would like to invite everyone who is involved in Ocean related activities and the general public to participate in the presentations and debate sessions at the 3rd International LIFE+ MarPro workshop.
